Mikala received both her BS and MS at CU Denver through the Dept. of Bioengineering, completing her MS in Dr. Magin's lab looking at sex differences in human pulmonary artery adventitial fibroblast activation. She is now making hybrid hydrogels that can both stiffen and soften to study fibroblastic foci in IPF. In her free time, Mikala likes to spend time in the mountains hiking or paddleboarding, but when stuck at home she enjoys cooking and knitting.
